Adding a News Story

To create a news story, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Communications menu section..
  • Click on the Create News Story link.
  • The Create News Story page is displayed.
  • Using the Create News Story page, enter the following information for the News Story:
  • News Date
  • News Time
  • Topic/New Topic – Either select a topic from the drop down box.
  • Source – Enter the source for the news story.
  • Order – If this news story is to be included in the featured articles section, select the appropriate order for this article.
  • Headline – Enter the headline for the story.  
  • Subtitle- Enter the subtitle of the story.
  • Abstract – Enter the abstract for the story.
  • Is Link – If the news story is a link to a story on another page or site, check the Is Link box and include the link in the Text box.
  • Text – Enter the body, or text, of the news story.
  • Publication Date – This is the date that will be used to automatically publish the article on a future date. Click the radio button to use this feature. If this date is not changed, the article will be published when the story is saved. The publishing job runs every 3 minutes.
  • Expiration Date – This is the date that the article will be removed from the featured section at a future time. Click the radio button to use this feature. If the expiration date is not used, the story will never expire. The expiration job runs every 3 minutes.
  • Sites for the News – If you have multiple sites, you can post this news story to multiple sites by checking them in the Sites for the News section.
  • Click the Save button.
  • Publish the news story when you want it to appear on the public website.
