Quick Checklist for Configuring your Mac

  1. To download and run the FIS application, the Mac must be properly configured to accommodate the unique features of FIS. Detailed instructions for configuring your Mac are provided in the pages that follow.
  2. Verify which version of Microsoft Office Word you have installed on your computer. To use FIS, you must have Microsoft Office Word version 2004 or higher. If you have a version prior to Microsoft Office Word 2004, contact 4 INFO (4-4636) to arrange for installation.
  3. If you do not have Firefox 2 installed on your computer, download it from www.mozilla.com. Intermittent functioning of the rich-text editor is a symptom of Firefox version 1.x (and some Safari versions) and can be fixed by upgrading to Firefox 2.
  4. Verify that the download location in Firefox is set to the desktop.
  5. Download the footer.htm file to the Desktop. This is a one-time action that must be performed on each Mac running the FIS software. The file consists of the M. D. Anderson logo and footer information that will be displayed on the CV. Important: Do not change the footer.htm label and do not move it to a different location.
  6. Disable the popup blocker software in your web browser.
