Clearing the Cookie Cache

When the footer.htm file is downloaded, a cookie is stored on the computer. To download the footer.htm file again the user must clear the cookie cache in Firefox.

If the footer.htm file has not been downloaded, the user will see the following screen when they click the CV, Institutional link. Otherwise the screen will not be displayed.

There are two ways to clear cookies; (1) clear them without exiting Firefox and (2), clear them when exiting Firefox. Either way will work.

To clear cookies without exiting Firefox:

 1.    Click Firefox/Preferences.
The following dialog window will be opened.


 

2.    Click the Privacy tab to access cookies.

3.    Check Ask me before clearing private data box.

4.    Click Clear Now button.
The Clear Private Data dialogue box will be opened


 

5.    Check Cookies box.

6.    Click Clear Private Data Now button.

To clear cookies when exiting Firefox, use the same dialog boxes, but a different setting in the Privacy window as shown below:

1.    Click the Privacy tab to access cookies.

2.    Check Always clear my private data when I close Firefox.
By checking this box, the user will be prompted to clear data on each exit.
When you exit Firefox, the following screen will be displayed.


 

3.    Check Cookies box.

4.    Click Clear Private Data Now.
