Community

  • The concept of community is centered on membership. Site visitors can interact with each after they login as site members.
  • Sub-communities can be created for affinity groups within the membership. It enables site membership functionsas well as the ability to create sub-communities or micro-sites for affinity groups.
  • Allows access-controlled communities for staff, faculty, Board of Trustees, faculty committees and student groups to deliver group-specific content and facilitate group interaction.

    Quick Sub-Community Set up Instructions:

    This well provide the instructions needed to be able to set up pages for a sub-community that shows News and Calendars for the sub-community. Please see more detailed instructions by selecting a category on the right.

    • Create menu level 1 page for new community
      • The News and Calendar tags below can be used on this page (like Costa Rica)
    • Create News Topic for the New Community
      • Then place a modification of this tag on the page where you want the news listing to appaer No news available for the search criteria selected.
      • Category name should be replaced with the name of your new category
      • The date range is optional in the tag above. Note that if you use a date range, nothing will be displayed after the end date entered.
    •  Create a Calendar For your new community
      •  Note the ID of the calendar  ( Example: ID=101) 
      • Then place this tag on the page where you want the calendar to appear

      • Select ONLY the menu level 1 item that you want limit to this community
      • Publish the Sub-community
        • Go to siteadmin | www and add Members to the community
        • Only people who are in this community can login and see the Menu 1 page and below for that community.
    • Publish and rebuild the whole site
