Page Types

Content Pages

There are two types of content web pages:

  • Menu Page - a menu page is  usually associated with the dynamic navigation structure of a website or with a page grouping for a  sub-community. Think of menu pages as your  "site map".
  • Independent – Pages do not become part of the website navigation structure, instead these pages are accessed by creating links to them from other pages. Independent pages can be grouped by page categories.

URL Pages

In simple terms, a URL is the path to a web page or a web address. Menu pages can be created as links to other pages to simplify site navigation (Independent pages cannot be URL Pages). There are three URL Types:

  • Raw Link - explicit path to a web page outside the xCatalyst framework.
  • Site Directory Link - signals xCatalyst that the link will be to a page in the site directory. All that is required to make the link is the page name.
    • Example: About_Us.asp
  • No Site Directory Link - signals xCatalyst that the link will be to a page that resides on the network but is not in the site directory.
    • Example: /assnfe/memberdirectory.asp
